From what I've heard the NRFF makes the Reading & Northern a nice chunk of change, and the railroad has this service down to a science. I'm not familiar with the Hauto Tunnel, but I take it would avoid having to turn towards Manahoy?

@@RailWatchers Yes it would cut off the steep grades and super sharp curves leaving Tamaqua and heading up to Haucks. Restoring the Hauto tunnel would allow the trains to leave the line just south of Tamaqua (a new connection to the Greenwood running track would have to be built) and then the tunnel cuts straight through the mountain past the current end of track, rejoining the "main" at the other side of the mountain opposite Lake Hauto

@@RailWatchers Probably terrible. I know the north side entrance is collapsed and now built over by a main road. Still I bet it could be done if there is a will to do it.

My friends and I climbed the side of the mountain. We parked in about the same spot I shot the video of the trestle from the ground. From there it's about a 30/45 minute hike up, give or take a few.

It's owned by the Horwith trucking company in Northampton. The railroad consists of the 4 track interchange yard they share with NS, and their transload facility which is inaccessible private property. They work Monday through Friday I believe and can usually be seen bring cars in and out of the interchange sometime in the early afternoon.

Thanks! It was about 20-25 trains during the daytime last year, I went again this year and it was significantly less.

@@RailWatchers Yeah I am wondering if its the economy/election year? I am not even getting half of what I was when I was filming just last year.....have you noticed it is down on other lines also?

@@lookingback6314 Could be the economy, NS cut some select intermodal services due to a downturn in traffic late last year I think. They also took a step back towards PSR and combined a lot of trains again earlier this year.

Conrail was reinstalling the 2 to 1 East crossover at CP Townley on the Lehigh Line. It was wiped out almost 7 years ago by a CSX derailment.

Yes, the Raritan Central's entire roster is quite unique. I'm not familiar with the Chicago Central, but I agree the red fits the RC!

@@RailWatchers Yep, I spent about half an hour waiting on that BC Rail unit, then I caught it again on A439 out of Proctor 3 days later by surprise, so it was cool to see it again, but it basically made my first catch of it pointless lol

Turn means turn job, train terminates back where it originated.

Yes, they work Monday through Friday out of Manville and usually leave Manville Yard around noon. Only very rarely do they work weekends.
